Performing live to screenings of iconic films is a speciality of the Orchestra of St Paul’s.
Tonight’s screenings feature Chaplin’s The Cure, Easy Street and The Immigrant on the centenary of their first release, with OSP, conducted by Artistic Director Ben Palmer, playing Carl Davis’s hilarious and touching scores live to picture.
Ben has conducted, among others, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin and the BBC Singers.
Carl Davis's vast output for TV and film includes acclaimed scores for The French Lieutenant's Woman, the BBC's Pride and Prejudice, and epic silent films such as Napoléon and Ben-Hur.
"...and edge of the seat intensity and technical brilliance that contrasts sharply with the 'health and safety' approach favoured by today's 'A list' orchestras." - On An Overgrown Path
