Fantastic Fanfares 2022 Competition Winner

The winner of our 2022 competition for composing a fanfare, this year with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as its theme, is Nicholas Delargy Crawley.

Nicholas, whose striking fanfare impressed the four judges as the fanfare that captured the spirit of the Royal Jubilee most successfully, is aged 17 and attends Woodhouse College where he is studying A Levels including Music.

Highly commended were Alec Imamovic aged 14 from William Ellis School and Buddy Deering aged 17 from City Academy.

Proms at St Jude’s is enormously grateful to Steinberg Media Technologies for their sponsorship, which included providing a licence for Dorico Pro composition software to Nicholas and copies of Dorico Elements to all entrants.

We are very grateful to the judges Louis d'Heudieres, Caroline Welsh, Aaron Rambow Czarny  (the 2021 winner) and Joan Arnold of the Proms at St Jude’s Education Committee who originated the competition.

The 2023 competition will be launched in September 2022. Any teacher or student who is interested in finding out more should contact education@promsatstjudes.org.uk. A video and teaching pack for secondary schools are available on request. We also plan to launch a junior competition for 2023 – watch the website for more details or contact us to express an interest.
