Songs from Theatreland plus other jazz, folk and classical favourites

The Swingles (originally Les Swingles or The Swingle Singers) have been challenging the boundaries of vocal music for over 60 years, earning five Grammy® Awards and establishing themselves as one of the world’s most beloved and admired vocal groups. Their instantly recognisable sound has remained timeless, with intricate arrangements of jazz, folk, pop and classical music as well as original material. Today’s seven young Swingles were featured at the BBC Proms in 2024 performing a ground-breaking commission by Anna Clyne and a sensational beat-box version of the Bulgarian folk tune Bučimiš. As well as Swingles classics – think of the iconic and virtuosic scat versions of Bach – we’ll hear music from their latest album, Theatreland, which is a spectacular celebration of the best of musical theatre. They’ll sing hits from A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, Hair, Waitress, Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen and more, handpicked by the singers from their favourites.
