Sir Antonio Pappano is one of our most celebrated and sought-after conductors, acclaimed for his inspirational performances in both symphonic and operatic repertoire.

He has been Music Director of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden since 2002, Music Director of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome since 2005 and he takes up the position of Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra later this year. Sir Antonio has also conducted at the world’s greatest opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the State Operas of Vienna and Berlin and La Scala in Milan.

Last year, he conducted the Coronation Orchestra at the Coronation of King Charles III.

His long-anticipated memoir ‘My Life in Music’ is a passionate exploration of the cultural, inspirational and restorative qualities of classical music.

Ian Skelly is a writer and documentary maker and hosts BBC Proms and concerts across the UK.
